In September of 2003 Glory to God Christian High School will open
in
Liberty, NY. Considering the high cost of education why should any
parent
consider paying twice in order for their child to get a Christian
education?
There are a number of Biblical reasons: (1) Education should be God
centered
and Bible centered. (Ephesians. 6:4) "And, fathers, do not provoke your
children
to anger; but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the
Lord."
(2) Education should be positive and truthful. (Proverbs 22:6) “Train
up
a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart
from
it.” (3) Peer pressure should be positive and Christ-like. (Proverbs
13:20)
“He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools
will
suffer harm.” (1 Corinthians 15:33) “Do not be deceived: "Bad company
corrupts
good morals." (4) The teacher’s life may speak louder than the
lesson.
(Luke 6:40) "A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he
has
been fully trained, will be like his teacher.” (5) True wisdom is
from
God. (Psalm 111:10) “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
...”
(Proverbs 9:10) “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and
the
knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Col. 2:2-3)
“...
Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and
knowledge.”
(6) The Bible says Christians are to be the "light and salt of the
earth".
(Matthew 5:13-14) "You are the salt of the earth; but if
the
salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good
for
nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by
men.
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be
hidden.”
Perhaps the sacrifice of educating a child in a Christian school is
great
but "How much is a soul worth?" What if the Bible is true?
