Deliverance
Bringing safely through
Keeping from harm

the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?”
“Salvation means deliverance from sin and its consequences”
THE ROAD TO SALVATION
Must be walked to the end
Is one way with two sides and three stages
THE ONE WAY OF SALVATION
Christ is the way
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one
comes to the Father, but through Me.
Acts 4:12
"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name
under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved."
Given by God’s grace
Romans 3:24
“...being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which
is in Christ Jesus;...”
Based on the death of Christ
Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us.”
The resurrection of Christ
Romans 5:10
“For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the
death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved
by His life.”
The intercession of Christ
Hebrews 7:25
“Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God
through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
THE TWO SIDES OF SALVATION
Received by Grace through Faith
Ephes. 2:8-9
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves, it is the gift of God; [9] not as a result of works, that
no one should boast.”
Romans 3:22-28, John 1:16, Romans 1:17
THE THREE STAGES OF SALVATION
Past - Present - Future
THE PAST STAGE
A personal experience by which the believer:
Is forgiven
Romans 4:7-8
[7] "Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, And
whose sins have been covered. [8] "Blessed is the man whose sin the
Lord will not TAKE INTO ACCOUNT."
Acts 10:43
"Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone
who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins."
Passes from spiritual death to spiritual life
1 John 3:14
“We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love
the brethren. He who does not love abides in death.”
Passes from the power of sin to the power of the Lord
Romans 6:22-23
“[22] But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you
derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome,
eternal life. [23] For the wages of sin
is death, but the free gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Passes from Satan’s dominion to God’s Dominion
Acts 26:18
“....to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light
and from the dominion of Satan to God, in order that they may receive
forgiveness of sins and an
inheritance among those who have been
sanctified by faith in Me.”
Has a new relationship with God
John 1:12
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become
children of God, even to those who believe in His name,...”
Is rescued from the penalty of sin
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
1 Cor. 1:18
“For the word of the cross is to those who are perishing foolishness,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
Romans 1:16
The present stage -
A personal experience by which the believer:
Is filled with the Holy Spirit
John 16:13
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all
the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He
hears,
He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”
Acts 1:8
Enters into a personal relationship with the Father and with Jesus as
Lord and Savior
Matthew 6:9
“Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be
Thy name.”
John 14:23
[23] Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep
My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make
Our abode with him.”
Is called to be dead to sin
Romans 6:6-7, 11
[6] knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our
body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves
to sin; [7] for he who has died is freed from sin.
[11] Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in
Christ Jesus.”
Submits to the leading of the Holy Spirit and to God’s word
Romans 8:1-17
“[4] in order that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us,
who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
[11] But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in
you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to
your mortal bodies
through His Spirit who indwells you.”
2 Tim. 3:16
[16] All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for
reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;...”
Is filled with the Holy Spirit and continues to be filled
Acts 2:38-39
“[38] And Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized
in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you
shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
[39] "For the promise is for
you and your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord
our God shall call to Himself."
Is commanded to be separated from sin and the present corrupt
generation
Acts 2:40
“ And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting
them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation!"
2 Cor. 6:17
"Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate," says the Lord.
"And do not touch what is unclean; And I will welcome you.”
Is called to fight for God’s kingdom against satan
2 Cor. 10:4-5
for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely
powerful for the destruction of fortresses. [5] We are destroying
speculations and every
lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of
God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of
Christ,
1 Peter 5:8, Ephes. 6:11; 6:16
The future stage
Romans 13:11-12
“And this do, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to
awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we
believed.
[12] The night is almost gone, and the day is at hand. Let us
therefore lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of
light.”
1 Thes. 5:8-9
“But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the
breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.

through our Lord Jesus Christ,...”
